How Industrial Asset Integrity & Monitoring Systems Work

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about asset integrity, condition monitoring, inspection and the site's safety scope.

What is industrial asset integrity?

It is the coordinated management of equipment condition, degradation, inspection, maintenance and engineering so assets continue to perform their required function with controlled risk.

Is asset integrity the same as preventive maintenance?

No. Preventive maintenance is one possible control. Integrity also includes inspection, condition monitoring, engineering assessment, operating controls, change management and lifecycle decisions.

What is risk-based inspection?

RBI is an inspection-planning approach that prioritizes equipment using risk concepts such as probability and consequence of failure. Formal programs require competent specialists and applicable standards.

Does the thickness calculator tell me remaining safe life?

No. It only calculates an observed trend between two user-entered measurements. Safe life and retirement criteria require codes, representative data and engineering assessment.

Does this site teach live electrical or pressure-equipment testing?

No. Hazardous field procedures are intentionally excluded.
